"Mommy, who's the President?"

I am posting what another blog posted this week because it was the scene at our house. Anna stayed up to watch the returns and was so into the blue states, red states and the electoral votes needed to win the highest elected office in our country....what a great learning time for her!

The next morning, Lauren asked who won. As soon as Anna got up she asked, "Mommy, did you tell Lauren that Barack Obama is our new President?".... They went and voted with us--even pushed the cast your vote button....I just think it is so important that they be aware of the whole process. We talked about the election, watched a little movie on it, they were both aware of who the candidates were....it was a great time of living and learning life!

From the blog "I think this world is perfect...."

"Daddy, Who's President?"
Lying in bed this morning, just before 7 a.m., Madison walks in and the first words out of her mouth are, "Daddy, who's President?"

"Barack Obama," I responded.

Ava follows by all of 10 seconds, and the first thing she says is, "Dad, who's the President?"

"Barack Obama," I said again.

I didn't make it all the way to the speech last night, but did set the DVR to record it, and as the girls climbed into bed dialed up the footage.

We watched, and I answered more questions, and reveled in the fact that - this morning - who was going to lead our nation was the first thing they wanted to know, and that the answer to that question summoned a wild scene of celebration and historic significance worthy of America and all it is, and one that utterly mesmerized and captivated two sets of young and curious eyes.
